PREMIUM MATERIALS AND QUALITY FABRICATION IMPROVE SAFETY & EFFICIENCY
Our three premium Board Configurations and can be designed to suit existing and new shed structures. ProWay’s Board Configurations include Curved, Sawtooth and Straight arrangements.
Most new Shearing Sheds feature raised boards, which offer plenty of benefits such as chutes which return shorn sheep under grating as well roustabouts being able to work above chest height when removing stained wool and picking up locks and fleeces.
ProWay Boards are highly regarded by woolgrowers and shearers for the ergonomic benefits, durability and premium finishes. All Boards feature a generous shelf and hooks for storage of equipment. ProWay also supply electrical fitout plans which outline where power points are best located at each stand.
CURVED BOARD
The ProWay Curved Board comprises individual stands around an arc providing an optimal raised board solution giving full access to wool handler’s while allowing access under grating for shorn sheep storage. Shearers also have more working space than conventional systems.
Curved board provides a range of benefits:
- Front-fill catching pens are better implemented and allow for simpler filling as sheep naturally follow the curved design
- Reduced walking distance for wool handlers and roustabouts moving between stands, bins, wool tables or press
- Length of drag for each sheep is reduced but most importantly the need to turn when dragging is also minimised
- Shearers have a greater view of their co-workers with an unobstructed view of the whole wool room
- Shearers work in relative close contact with each other and can move around the board freely to assist others
- Each shearer has an individual work area, including a large shelf for combs, cutters, tool boxes etc.
- All stands feature electrical cut off switches in case of emergency
ProWay have designed and installed Sawtooth as well as individual straight sections on radial curves. Client feedback means our Curved Boards configurations are constantly being improved. ProWay Curved Boards can be custom built to house anywhere between two to 12 stands.
SAWTOOTH BOARD
ProWay’s unique Sawtooth Board design maximises safety and efficiency for your shearers and wool handlers. The Sawtooth design meets all relevant Workplace, Health and Safety codes and has been described by Workcover as the safest design they have seen.
The Sawtooth design provides a range of benefits:
- Minimises the length of the drag for each shearer but most importantly minimises the need to turn when dragging
- Each shearer has a separate work area including a large shelf for combs, cutters, tool boxes etc.
- Chutes are recessed into the board and send sheep under the grating into individual count out pens
- Chutes are 600mm wide providing plenty of room for rams and larger sheep
- Wool handlers have full access around the individual work platform and don’t need to bend over to ground level to reach a fleece
- A handrail along the board protects shearers from falling off
- All stands feature electrical cut off switches in case of emergency
STRAIGHT BOARD
ProWay’s Straight Boards are regarded as the best quality in the industry. Raised Straight Boards offer considerable benefits for roustabouts being able to work above chest height when removing stained wool and picking up locks and fleeces whilst offering fantastic vision for shearers.
Straight Board benefits include:
- Chutes are recessed into the board and send sheep under the grating into individual count out pens
- Chutes are 600mm wide providing plenty of room for rams and larger sheep
- Catching pen designs make use of front fill or lane fill systems to ensure catching pens are easily maintained and filled
- Each stand is equipped with split catching pen doors for quick open and close, support arms for shearers back supports and a handrail to protect shearers falling from the raised board
- Shearers work in relative close contact with each other and can move around the board freely to assist others during difficulty
- Each shearer has an individual work area, including a large shelf for combs, cutters, tool boxes etc.
- All stands feature electrical cut off switches in case of emergency
The Board platform is constructed out of a steel frame for strength and longevity, while the board itself comprises of softwood, tongue and groove slats to minimise blunting of dropped combs and cutters.
