PROWAY SHEEP Corral OPTIONS

Sorting OPTIONS

Efficient individual processing of sheep via manual or auto sorting systems is a necessity in modern sheep facilities. ProWay offer numerous sorting and handler lead up solutions for single file processing which can be catered to your operation.

PROWAY SHEEP Corral HIGHLIGHTS

ProWay’s product range are the result of years of research and development, as well as incorporating feedback from our clients. Below is a selection of some of our most popular sheep corral features.

ADJUSTABLE V sorting alley

  • Can be narrowed in the base to ensure sheep and lambs approach the sorting gates in single file
  • The adjustment allows for varying size sheep/lambs, while freshly shorn sheep can be slowed down by narrowing the V
  • The V-Alley is supplied with tumble swing gates at both ends

SHEEP SERPENTINE sorting alley

  • Developed to aid sorting, particularly in British breed and crossbred sheep. It is also equally effective in merino sheep
  • The combination of the tight curve and the tapered sides in the path they must travel, restricts the speed of the sheep, giving the operator comfortable time to make their sorting decision
  • Sheep tend to watch their feet as they are negotiating the curve so are less focused on watching the operator
  • The net effect is more consistent flow of sheep at a moderate speed allowing accurate sorting

ADJUSTABLE LEAD-UP Alley

  • Simple pull/push adjustment both sides with locking pin
  • Six locking points on both sides for variability
  • Sprung backstops supplied for each section of alley
  • Hot dipped base plate which bolts to a concrete slab
  • Adjustable flip gate to improve stock flow into single file
  • Guillotine or tumble swing gates at exit for quick release
  • Optional curved adjustable section into handlers or draft

DIAMOND YARDS

  • Diamond yards offer maximum flexibility in your corrals, allowing easy transfer of stock between four adjoining holding pens
  • Sheep can be sorted through these yards or temporarily held in the pen
  • The diamond yard is small enough for catching and marking lambs, but when open as a throughput, remains flexible for moving large groups of sheep
  • Most of ProWay’s standard designs implement at least one diamond yard

DOUBLE WORKING alley

  • Allows for double capacity in your race, encouraging sheep flow as stock fill side-by-side
  • Standard width is 1200mm (center of posts) with 600mm lanes allowing the operator to work outside the alley while stopping sheep from turning around
  • The alley frame is braced underneath for strength and concreted in place.
  • All of our alleys have a smooth top to ensure drenching hoses etc. do not fall through and get caught
  • Each individual alley panel can be easily removed to fit a scan crate etc
  • Gates can also be installed to allow drafting out of the alley

SINGLE Lane WORKING Alley

  • The single lane working alley allows the operator access to both sides of the stock
  • Standard width is 600mm (center of posts) allowing the operator to work outside the alley while stopping sheep from turning around
  • The alley frame is braced underneath for strength and concreted in place
  • All of our alleys have a smooth top to ensure drenching hoses etc. do not fall through and get caught
  • Each individual alley panel can be easily removed to fit a scan crate, handler etc

SHEEP Tub

  • Designed for operators who are undertaking more individual processing of sheep
  • The concept is based on our cattle tub, allowing groups of animals to be reduced to single file down an alley
  • The tub and alley are curved and sheeted to promote stock flow
  • The tub and curved alley have proven popular with stud breeders who need to quickly process large numbers of individual animals

RAISED alley BOXING

  • Installed during construction to give operators improved reach into the working alley
  • A channel groove is boxed into the slab area to allow feet under the alley, ultimately getting the stock person/handler closer to the sheep with less stress on their legs and back
  • The slab sits up on a galvanized section and is reinforced to strengthen the overhanging walkway

SLIDING Alley GATES

  • These gates are an alternative to standard tumble swing gates, which run on wheels above the alley
  • They allow for fluid movement of stock and are excellent “blockers” in a single alley setup
  • Sheep or rams can be moved through, held and treated, tagged or scanned etc
  • Gates and frames are of solid construction, fully galvanized for longevity and concreted into the slab with the rest of the alley components

TUMBLE SWING GATES

  • Developed for blocking stock flow in working alleys and sorting alleys
  • These pivot from the center of two posts and roll out towards the operator, swinging flush against the fence
  • The gates are especially useful when stock are packed hard against the gate as the operator can open or close the gate without clearing sheep
  • The gate has vertical rails to eliminate the risk of breaking a leg should sheep attempt to jump over

GUILLOTINE GATES

  • These gates are generally situated at the end of the handling alley and are used to block the exit when filling with sheep
  • They minimize walking as they can be operated from anywhere along the handling alley
  • Operated by pulling on a cable which is counter weighted at one end, they can be left in closed or open position with ease
  • The gate has vertical rails to eliminate the risk of breaking a leg should sheep attempt to jump over

sorting GATES

  • Installed at the end of V and handling alleys these gates allow the operator to sort sheep three ways
  • Built with hand safe handles for quick operation, without the risk of jamming fingers
  • Available in 3.6 ft or 5.2 ft lengths and swung off 2 ‘” posts or the optional sorting module which can be lifted out to fit a weigh crate or auto draft unit
  • Sorting gate stoppers are fitted to hold gates in place when not in use
  • Fully galvanized pipe rail construction with 25NB top rail and 5 x 20NB rails below

SPRING LOADED MANWAYS

  • These short access gates are placed in key locations within the design
  • A catch and spring on one side keeps this gate shut with minimal effort and stops sheep getting through
  • 600mm wide for quick open and close operation
  • Can be made in any rail type to match surrounding pens including oval, pipe or fully sheeted where necessary
  • Takes the hassle out of climbing over fences or opening long gates to move between pens

UNDERCOVER WORK AREAS

  • Provides weather protection to operators, stock and yards to increase efficiency, productivity and longevity of stockyards
  • Heavy duty steel construction with colourbond or zinc roof option
  • Able to organise erection during construction of yards ready for first yarding
  • We are able to design your shed around yards, or design yards around an existing shed to maximise coverage and utilise columns and space
